Songs with Subliminal Messages

by Andrew on May 16, 2010

Have you ever watched The Simpsons episode where L.T. Smash starts a boy band and haves them sing a song with the lyrics “Yvan eht Nioj”, in which Lisa discovers says “Join the Navy” when played backwards (backmasked)?  Well a lot of subliminal messages are hidden in music.  Here, you can find the same subliminal message when you backmask Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”, courtesy of Subliminal Video.

And here’s a few more hidden messages from backmasked songs.

Some artists, however, are talented enough to include subliminal messages in their music while their songs are played forward.  For example, in Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”, when she sings p-p-p poker face p-p poker face, she’s actually saying something else besides “poker face”.  I won’t say what it is exactly, but replace the “p” with an “f” and add an “h” after the “k”.  Skip to 1:25 in the video below and check it out yourself.

Another form of subliminal messages are when images are inserted into videos for only 1 frame.  Many movie theaters use to do this with pictures of popcorn and soda to increase sales at the concession stand.  In The Simpsons episode I mentioned above, they also did this with an image of Uncle Sam in the “Yvan eht Nioj” music video.

Watch Lady Gaga do the same thing in her “Just Dance” music video.

Apparently, Lady Gaga is using subliminal advertising and sex with a whale to promote free4less.com, which redirects to vylmedia.com, a phone service company.  Seems very odd that a phone company would choose that form of promotional advertising, like how Disney promotes sex to kids.
